Are you failing to convert confused prospects to clear-minded clients?

Monday, April 5th, 2010

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Classic sales tips dictate that a confused mind never buys. Prospects require a mind clear of doubt before they’ll reach for their wallet. Why purchase a product or service if you have any residual reservations about it?

With the sheer quantity of services and products readily available on the Web there’s no reason why people should buy from you if they’re confused about your offer. Sales come through the path of least resistance!

Write informative article submissions regarding your product or service to wipe away doubt and clear people’s minds for a smooth purchasing process.

Understand your audience

The first thing you need to do is comprehensively identify your target audience. Every successful marketing plan is founded on thorough market research. Carefully consider exactly who you’re trying to appeal to and adapt your tone accordingly. Studying key demographics will help you do this. The most common demographic factors include sex, race, age, income, disabilities, employment, education level, mobility (vehicle ownership), home ownership, and geographical location. Add extra strength to your marketing approach by studying behavioral variables such as usage rate and loyalty.

“Firmographics” may sound like a big word, but it’s just about studying businesses instead of people. If you’re selling to other companies, understanding firmographic variables such as industry, seniority and functionals area relating to the characteristics of an organization create even more poignancy for your marketing plan. Firmographic factors include industry, employee size, revenue size, number of locations and geographic location of headquarters.

Once you’ve identified your key demographics and firmographics, take it a step further and develop your key psychographic values. This is just another big-sounding word that is just about knowing what makes people tick – things related to attitudes, personality, values, lifestyles and interests.

See the other point of view

Complement this approach by adopting your prospect’s perspective. What issues do they want to resolve?  Explain to your audience how your product will benefit them. What questions need answering? Use an automated article system to give them a continuous stream of useful content to provide those answers. What are their dreams? Share your service’s ability to help them excel. Their biggest fears? Let them know that your business provides a constant support network.

Fail to extend your thoughts beyond the immediate features of your product or service and you‘ll leave your prospects confused as to how your offer will directly help them. Address their most important issues and you’ll efface doubts and confusion, giving them the go-ahead to buy from you.

And you may be thinking that your complex product or service requires complex terms and explanations—not true! When in doubt, apply the K.I.S.S. rule (keep it simple and stupid). Use straightforward language and you’ll eliminate points of confusion about your offer.

Avoid the urge to discuss all of your product or service’s features and benefits at one time. The best approach is to break your offer down into manageable chunks. These chunks of information and value are easier to process and will not overwhelm your prospects. Article writing grants you the opportunity to introduce new value points in controlled stages. You will gradually build value while insuring that your prospect has mastered a feature/chunk before you move on to the next point.

Are you excited about your product or service? Great! Just make sure you’re not too excited. This can cause you to get swept away and relate the details of your offer in a very confusing and whirlwind manner. Excitement can be a great catalyst for writing your business articles if you harness it. And remember: always take a step back from your article after you’ve written it and revisit it later to see if you need to tone it down in spots.

A Quality Article Submission Site: Just One Component of an Overall Article Marketing Strategy

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

To succeed online today as an internet marketer requires having an overall business plan. Within that main plan are specialized strategies for each marketing initiative you undertake. One such initiative is article marketing. Your overall article marketing strategy will have many components. One component is using a quality article submission site.

Other components must meld with your using a quality content distribution service. Let’s look at five of them. All together, the following five ensure your article marketing strategy is a comprehensive one.

1. Market Research

A good strategy begins with knowing your audience. Once you have pinpointed your audience you must understand their concerns and desires. You can then begin to formulate ideas based on their needs.

This is crucial to helping you create quality content. Not knowing exactly who your target market is means your content will be too general. It won’t have the detailed specialized information this specific niche wants. Therefore, they won’t find your writing useful.

2. Relevant Article Topics

You can write to your heart’s content and have a service distribute your articles everywhere. However, that doesn’t mean your writing’s going to resonate with your intended audience. To succeed as a content producer you must deliver what your niche wants to read.

If you’re promoting the latest skiwear that’s hot with today’s winter enthusiasts you must write appropriate content. Content on new skiwear material that keeps you warm while looking fashionable are appropriate. Writing about the latest designs and designers is as well.

Any piece that doesn’t focus on the essence of your affiliate products will produce less favorable results. You want the reader to relate your content to something you sell. You can write about ski fashion in different ski regions of the world. You can focus on the different regions, with a mention of skiwear.

The thing is, it’s all related. You’re not off topic writing about GDP growth or road conditions in a ski region. These things do not relate to you trying to market fashionable skiwear.

3. Thorough Research

You know who your target market is and understand their need for high quality information. You have your topics. You now give them value through performing in-depth research that presents current and new information to them.

Remember, they probably already know much about the topic you’re writing on, at least the basics. Your job is to go beyond the basics. Spend some time on quality research and deliver unique, fresh information to them.

4. Quality Writing

The foundation of all your efforts as a content producer is the quality of your writing. Once you have relevant topics set to expound on, get down to the writing. You’re goal is to present a lot of good information to your audience. If you’re new to writing, access the resources that a quality content distribution service provides.

A good article submission site offers a best practices guide. They also have experienced editors who, with a keen eye, check your work. These editors offer advice, tips, and suggestions to help you write concise, clear, informative pieces.

Keep writing, as practice of the art does make perfect. You find that the more you write, the more you feel comfortable with words. Consequently, you become more productive. The more you write, the more links you get to the Internet, and the more traffic heading to your website.

5. Thorough Analysis

Finally, a sound overall strategy involves analyzing your current campaigns for effectiveness. Knowing what went right and what went wrong with a campaign means you fine-tune it for future success. Distribution and exposure reports that a good service provides helps you perform thorough analysis.

Of course, with these five you must be certain that the distribution service you employ has certain qualities. Look for a service that charges a one-time subscription fee. Explore whether they offer distribution on autopilot. This frees up time for you to engage in more writing and other online promotional activities.

In addition, check that the service offers a free article review process with live editors. It’s also important that they allow unlimited submissions in a subscription period. Check that they use social media tie-ins. You also want the convenience of being able to work from anywhere. Therefore, choose a service that doesn’t require you downloading programs to your home PC.

Consider carefully the article submission site you employ. Put in place the above five components with it. The result is a complete article marketing strategy primed for driving traffic to your website. More traffic means more conversions and more income for you. After all, that’s the reason you’re doing internet marketing in the first place.

Friday, March 19th, 2010

To market your business properly on the Internet requires you align your efforts with quality service providers. You understand the importance of article marketing. You want your content going out to the Web’s top publishers to gain extensive exposure for your website links. Concerning your article marketing strategy, its imperative you check out the quality of the article submission site you choose.

Here’s where you must be careful. Devote some extra time to choosing your content distribution service. Various services exist on the Internet, but they don’t all deliver the same thing. Here is a baker’s dozen of characteristics to look for in a service:

1. Choose a service that lets you work from anywhere. That means signing in from any computer at anytime. It also means no software to install or programs to download. This allows you to submit and track your articles from wherever.

2. Look for an article submission site that only requires submission of an article set once. You don’t want to spend time in manual submission every time you want your content to reach new publications.

3. Choose a service that charges you a one-time subscription fee. Don’t rack up expenses by paying per piece submitted. The best content distribution service allows unlimited submissions in a subscription period. They charge you upfront, once, and don’t tack on extra fees.

4. Look for a service that has an extensive publishers list. The best service deals with all the top Web publishers of good reputation. You want to reach a significant number of specialty publications. A huge article distribution list ensures you will.

5. Choose a service that gets your content out on autopilot. This means you submit your pieces now and schedule them for future distribution. This automation feature means your article go out without you lifting a finger. You can work on other projects as this is happening.

6. A service that utilizes the latest social media is a service that stays current on new marketing avenues. They allow you to update your followers when one of your new articles publishes. They provide a link from your author’s resource box to your favorite social media portal.

7. A quality content distribution service offers personalized coaching to writers. This is all part of a good service’s free review process. Their expert editors keep you in the know of what publishers require in articles. They advise on proper content, tone, style, grammar and spelling.

8. Choose a service that offers up-to-date distribution and exposure reports. You want to know where your content is going. You also want to know the number of “hits” they’re getting. This allows you to gauge the popularity of your topics and fine tune subject matter for future campaigns.

9. Look for a content distribution service that offers various subscription options. As a content producer, you want a subscription package that suits your current budget. A good service offers monthly, yearly, and even lifetime subscription packages.

10. Select a service that always keeps abreast of new online publications. A premier service gets your previously submitted content to new publications that spring up on the Web. Consequently, your older content finds a new audience via these publications just as your newer content does.

11. Choose a service that offers a helpful support desk for their members. A good service lets you easily submit a support ticket. In fact, they go a step further and provide a personal response within one business day. It’s this regard for the concerns of their members that separates mediocre services from quality ones.

12. Choose a service that provides excellent writing resources. This includes reports that explain the article marketing discipline. It also includes providing information on the duplicate content debate, writing an author’s resource box, and more. These resources help writers improve the quality of their writing and their marketing efforts.

13. Finally, look for a service that offers a guarantee. The best service will let you try them out to see if you like what they offer. They offer a money-back guarantee to those who try them out for a short period. This speaks volumes that they believe they have a useful service that provides value to their members.

There you have it, a dozen (plus one) characteristics to look for in an article submission site. Choose a premier service that delivers on their promises. The key to an effective article marketing strategy is to let a top-notch service do what they do best for you. The best service provides excellent return on the investment you make in them.

Tracking Clicks in Your Article Distribution Campaign

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Smart marketing means tracking results. Now you can easily integrate Google Analytics into your article distribution efforts. This kind of data can be collected using the powerful “click tracking” features of Google Analytics.

Using an article submission or distribution service is the smart way to get your content out there and build backlinks. It’s a proven method to boost your SERPS and build exposure. But as any article marketer knows too well, some articles do great and others just don’t. Use this tracking technology to get a better handle for which articles are getting the most traffic.

Track Clicks in Each Article Your Distribute

So you’ve written a terrific article and you’re ready to post it to your article submission service. If you have a feature-rich distribution service, you’ll get comprehensive distribution and exposure reports so you can see where it went, and how much traction it’s getting in the search engines. That’s a great start.

To really understand what articles do the most work, you want to know how many readers actually click through that article and onto your site. For that, you’ll need to add a tracking link to your resource box. Fortunately this is easy and free, thanks to the URL Builder from Google Analytics. The process is easy:

1. Enter the landing page URL.
2. Fill out the campaign source info fields. These are up to you to decide; make it easy to understand.
3. Hit the button to generate your customized link. That’s it. Once a reader clicks on that link it will be logged in Google Analytics and you’ll quickly see how each article is performing.

Add Links to Emails, Blogs Posts, Etc.

The same process will help you track any of your outbound email campaigns, blogs, press releases, etc. As long as you add a new custom link for each, you’ll be able to track returns on every campaign.

Avoiding the Long Link

You’ll notice that the custom link is long, and includes a question mark and lots of other info. Many article distribution services and content publishers don’t allow question marks in links. It’s a common way for affiliate links to be formatted, and is often a flag for spam. Don’t worry, there’s a workaround.

Add a Redirect If You Like

To avoid problems with the customized link, simply add a redirect. For example, you can add a link to www.mysite/articletitle and simply redirect any traffic to that link on to the custom link you’ve created with the URL Builder. You get a nice short SEO friendly link in your resource box; Google Analytics gets the data it needs to track the clicks.

Article marketing has evolved along with web technology. Take advantage of this with the help of your article distribution service.

Social and Tech Meet in Article Submission

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

With the easy tie-in of technology and social marketing, two worlds have collided. Does your article submission and distribution service leverage this brave new world?

Back in the good old days of article marketing, a site owner simply wrote a bunch of articles, posted them to her favorite article submission service, and waited for the traffic to role in. Because article distribution was relatively new on the scene, most keyword phrases had little competition, and it was fairly easy to nail the top spot in Google.

Article marketing, especially when you use a solid article distribution service, is still a great strategy. It’s a key part of a comprehensive strategy that will build exposure. What’s new is the social tie-in.

Article Distribution and Social Media

If you use an article submission and distribution service, you can leverage that to make more inroads in the social sphere. After your article is distributed, be sure to send it out through your Twitter feed, update your blog and post it in your LinkedIn status.

A good article distribution service will make this easy for you, with quick links from your author account to Twitter and other social outlets. If not, check out a social site like Ping.fm, which lets you update all your profiles with one post.

Either way, be sure to maximize your exposure from each article you submit. While the exposure you get from your article distribution service is irreplaceable, it can be leveraged with a few simple clicks to reach even more audiences.

After The Article, Then What?

Internet marketers fall prey to a common syndrome: I call it post and go. They will post an article, then send it out through their social networks. All well and good, but what’s truly the value in simply pushing your content out there?

If you use the social sphere to push your content, you have to give something back. Use that social network to engage other users, re-tweet interesting ideas, and generally participate in the discussion. You’ll get back as much as you give.

To recap, use your article distribution service to get your articles into the world. And, if they offer it, take advantage of your service’s social media tie-ins. Then use the social sphere to engage your new market and grow your prospects. It’s the new face of article and content distribution.

Don’t Get Bamboozled by Your Article Distribution Service!

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Do a quick search on “article submission service” or “article distribution service” and you’ll find a lot of choices. You’ve made a good call deciding to go with an automated service. Just make sure it’s got the features and technology you need. The last thing you want is any nasty surprises.

How Big Is Their Distribution List?

Many article submission services promise “wide distribution,” and a lot of them do deliver. How do you know if yours does? Check their publisher list before you buy. Make sure they tell you all the places your article might be distributed. Keep in mind, not all publishers accept all categories of articles. Still, be sure the list is healthy and includes places like GoArticles.com and other big article sites.

Where Was Your Article Sent?

Once the article distribution service sends out your piece, make sure you can get a quick report on where it was sent. This is key, guys. Some companies will claim to do submission to a ton of article sites; that’s fine, as long as they can prove it. Ask for a distribution report; if they can’t give it to you, go elsewhere.

What Is the Cost Per Article?

Most experts agree that to really knock it out of the park with article marketing, you need to send a solid, consistent stream of new content out into the world. So when you are signing on with an article submission service, be sure to check their policy on cost per article.

Many places charge a fee for each article distributed. Look for an article distribution service that offers unlimited articles for one price: this way you can market to your heart’s content and not worry about the cost.

Does It Tie In To Your Social Networks?

Social marketing has become mandatory these days for anyone looking to expose themselves to new markets. Does your article distribution service offer an easy way to link in to your own personal social networks?

Every time you distribute an article through your article submission service, make sure it gets to your Twitter account, Linked In profile, etc. Look for a forward thinking article submission site that makes this a one-click affair. It’s the evolution of content syndication, and if you’re article distribution service isn’t doing it, they are woefully behind the times.

To recap, make sure whatever article submission service you choose offers a transparent publisher list; article distribution reports; unlimited article submissions; and easy tie-ins to your social sphere. Oh, and don’t pay more than $40/month.

To your success,

Article Marketing Automation Beats Manual With A Big, Big Stick!

Friday, March 5th, 2010

Thanks to automation, search engine marketing with articles has become almost too easy. Still, some folks continue to work the old way, posting their article to submission sites by hand. Automate yourself! Choose an article distribution service that lets you input the article once, and distribute it far and wide.

Unlimited Article Submissions For One Set Price

Google is clear about this…new fresh relevant content is key to staying in the SERPS game. You can’t distribute one or two articles and expect to stay on the front page of your search term. You’ve got to continue to post new articles, two or three per week for each category you want to dominate. So look for an article submission and distribution service that offers unlimited articles for one price, not a “pay per article” deal.

Easy Tie-Ins to Your Social Networks

Old school article submission services work like this: they take your article and distribute it to their favorite article submission sites and publishers. You’ll get some results this way, for sure. Forward thinking article distribution companies know that you need to reach new markets in new ways…and those people live in your social networks.

Use an article distribution service that offers an easy tie-in to your Twitter account, Linked In profile…even RSS feeds. This broadens the exposure you’ll get, and puts your content in front of entirely new markets, for no additional cost.

Easy To Read Reports So You Can Track Results

The mantra for anyone who is serious about marketing is return on investment…what kind of results did I get from this effort? Make sure you can answer that question. Does your article submission service tell you where the articles were distributed? Do they give you an easy to read report so you can see the actual exposure you’re getting? If not, why not? Tracking results is key. Don’t neglect it.

Article Scheduling Lets You Set It and Forget It

The average knowledge worker switches tasks every three minutes, and, once distracted, a worker takes nearly a half-hour to resume the original task, according to Gloria Mark, a leader in the new field of “interruption science.”

The solution? Do as much as you can in one sitting. This goes for your article submissions as well. Write up a bunch of articles, and then input them all at once. Schedule them go out over time, using your article distribution service’s auto-pilot or scheduling feature.

Your service doesn’t offer this? Time to shop around. Consider the huge cost of switching tasks and the fee for a good service easily pays for itself time and again.

In summary, use the automation that is already available for your article marketing efforts. Choose an article submission and distribution service that allows unlimited articles, social network tie-ins, complete reports, and article scheduling. Anything less and you’re just doing drudge work.

To your success,

Article Submission Service as Social Butterfly?

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Article marketing has evolved in a powerful social marketing tool. Beyond traditional article sites and content publishers, articles are now making their presence known in the social sphere. Is your article distribution service a social butterfly? Here’s how to make the most of your article submissions with the least amount of manual work.

Get Seamless Socializing from Your Article Distribution Service

After submitting an article, automated distribution begins. Your article makes the usual rounds to all the big article sites, online publishers, niche industry blogs, and news groups. That’s a great start. And it’s not enough anymore.

Forward-thinking article distribution services have recognized that social networks are opening up entirely new markets to article authors. With more and more web users using Twitter as a mini-search engine, it’s imperative that your content be easily available to the Tweeting crowd.

LinkedIn is another networking site that is gaining a lot of traction in the social sphere. With more than 50 million users, LinkedIn offers a great opportunity to reach new markets through groups and connections. Updating your profile there with good informative content will quickly help build your reputation there.

The most up-to-date article submission sites will make it easy for you to send your articles out to your social networks. With a click or two, you’ll be able to Tweet your article, send it to update your LinkedIn status, and even purchase premium placement at the big name article directories.

Not Social Yet? Consider Your Options

If your article distribution service doesn’t offer this easy tie in, you can do it yourself. Every time you distribute an article, just take the URL, shorten it, Tweet it and update your profiles. It will take some time to do this manually. Or, consider going with an article distribution service that has this built in. Save some time, and gain a ton of leveraged exposure with each article.

Don’t Stop With the Push

If you do send your articles out into the world as your social messengers, be ready to join in the conversation you’ve started. If someone re-tweets your article, and it gets some comments, talk back. Join in. Add insight, talk to people. In other words, be social!

It’s like going to a party and handing out business cards. If you don’t take the time to speak the people you are handing them to, and get their cards back in return, what good is it? People want to do business with folks they know.

Use your article distribution service to gain entrance into the social sphere. Follow it up with real conversation. It’s a great win-win combination.

To your success,

The Ultimate Article Marketing Strategy

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Article marketing is still one of the most effective marketing strategies on the Internet. The reason is that surfers will always be looking for information. What also makes the Internet different from other forms of marketing is that on the Internet, users aren’t interested in being sold to. They really don’t care about advertising and will often ignore it.

That’s why, when you’re writing articles to promote your business, you want to make every step you take count. You want to get the most bang for your buck and the most bang for your effort.

Two techniques that will help you get the most from your article marketing efforts are: syndication and recycling. Syndication is about getting your articles on as many sites as possible. Recycling is about using your content in different ways so it may be posted on as many sites as possible.

Now there are a few ways to get started with syndication. The first step is to submit your articles to as many sites as possible. The easiest way to do this is to use a reputable article submission service that will submit your articles for you. Although you’ll have to pay for it, it’s worth it because it will save you a ton of time, time that can be spent on writing articles to submit.

When you submit to article directories, make sure that you use article directories that offer RSS (Really Simple Syndication). What RSS does is allow a site to display search engine friendly content that automatically updates.

If you find an article that you want to use on your web site, most article directories will also allow you to use the article as long as you include a link to the appropriate site. This is an option that will also be available for your articles, so you want to make sure that you post your articles on sites where they can be used. What’s important here is that users keep the resource box intact. You don’t want others swiping your articles without giving you credit.

As for recycling your content, there are many ways to do this that will help you increase your traffic to your site. In addition to submitting to article directories, you also want to submit to ezines that accept articles. If the site keeps an archive of ezines, even better because your article will have a permanent place on the site, and this will give you an additional backlink to your web site.

Create free reports. You simply organize your articles into free ebooks and then convert them to PDF. PDF is a universal form of document distribution that can be read on any computer.

Once you have created your free reports, submit them to ebook directories. Include the information about your free report in your resource box.

You may also want to consider offering your articles in other forms: podcasts allow you to offer your articles as an audio. Convert your articles to video. This can be a simple slide show or you can turn them into tutorials.

The point is, look for every opportunity possible to share your articles. The more you share your articles, the more traffic and sales you can get.

To your success,
