Article Submissions: Twitter on Steroids

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to our RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Want to keep your prospects and clients well informed? While Twitter and other social media outlets are ideal for broaching topics and attracting potential clients with tidbits of useful and entertaining information, they should only be used to lead your prospects to the real information they want. Article submissions are the meat and potatoes to your appetizer of a Twitter tweet.

Social Media as an Accelerant

While Twitter can help your company enjoy massive exposure on the Web, it still only represents a slice of the online market. You’ll miss out on plenty of potential customers if you fail to extend your marketing efforts beyond that. Today’s Internet users are more information-hungry than ever before. They’re going online to research your product or service first before they reach for their credit cards. Although Twitter has the power to create initial interest in your offer, it doesn’t quite possess the power to convince them to spend their hard-earned cash.

Use Twitter as the match to ignite your other marketing pieces. Twitter tweets are like headlines to articles. The main point of a headline is to grab someone’s attention and pull them in to read more. Essentially, your tweets are headlines for your other marketing pieces. Social media platforms provide an ideal opportunity to speak with enthusiasm about your product or service. Generate excitement and interest and then direct them to more information or directly to your offer.

Employ Multiple Marketing Techniques

An army doesn’t go into battle with just one type of weapon — they bring an entire arsenal. That’s because you never know for certain exactly what you’ll come up against in the field. The same goes for your marketing. The sheer volume of Internet users dictates that you must combine several marketing tools to ensure you successfully speak to as broad an audience as possible.

And just as each of our troops support the soldiers around them you’ll get the best results when you support each of your marketing pieces — never leave a marketing piece behind. Complement your social media marketing with a solid series of information-based articles. You can actually copy and paste one of your article headlines directly into your Twitter tweet and then simply provide a link back to the whole article. But don’t stop there — you can use Twitter or Google Buzz to tie anyone of your marketing pieces together simply by posting a short, intriguing blurb about one of your pieces and providing the link.

Caveat: There’s a tenuous balance to be achieved here with the number of marketing projects you undertake. Don’t spread yourself too thin in your efforts to appeal to as many people as possible. You’ll run the risk of killing your budget and just might go crazy trying to track all of your marketing projects. Ten units of energy spread out over five projects is much more effective than being spread out over 10 projects.

Shout it from the Virtual Rooftops

Use social media platforms to quickly spread the word about special promotions. Get them fired up about a discount, no-risk trial offer, unique satisfaction guarantee, free gift or anything else that will make it impossible to resist the temptation of clicking through to your main promo and marketing pieces. (Tip: Always double check your URL’s and actually click on them to make sure you’re sending people to the right place.)

And what better place than a social media platform to announce conventions, seminars, informational meetings and other social-business events? Social media tools give you a louder voice to reach a larger audience and invite plenty of prospects to your next function.

Hitting Hot Buttons on the Head Is Key to Selling More

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Buttons
We mean the other kind of buttons!
Creative Commons License photo credit: ahisgett

Marketing plans often fall short of their goal because they failed to zero in on their prospects’ hot buttons.

Your marketing plan must establish finite targets before you launch your campaign. Get a lock on the factors that trigger emotional responses from your prospects and you’ll figure out how to best present your offer.

Bang on those hot buttons

Hot buttons go far beneath the surface. Your product or service is not what’s in question. It’s what they help your target audience accomplish. Look for alternate dimensions to your product to hone in on the best way to present it. Use article marketing to effectively hit hot buttons right on the head.

Hot buttons consist of fears, worries, goals, aspirations and basic needs. They are all directly tied to people’s emotions. Many types of marketing simply don’t have the right platform to thoroughly appeal to emotions. On the other hand, article marketing grants you the perfect opportunity to connect better with your audience. For one, articles automatically have a better chance of digging below a prospect’s surface, since article readers are naturally more attentive. If they’re taking enough time to read your full article, then you’ve got enough time to truly speak to them. Whereas, T.V., radio and online banner ads can only quickly shout at someone and hope for the best.

Start by conducting some market research first to get a lock on demographics (sex, race, age, income, geographical location) and psychographics (attitudes, personality, values, lifestyles and interests). Study these factors  to narrow down your target audience and understand which emotions to appeal to. Don’t try and sell convenience items to single-parent homes—they’re looking for supplemental income opportunities and products or services that will grant them some time freedom. Push the convenience factor with a more affluent audience instead.

Accurately targeted hot buttons create a eureka moment, helping your prospects discover the perfect solution for their needs. Figure out what keeps them up at night and they’ll thank you with their credit cards for the full-night’s sleep. The fun part about crafting these articles for your business is that you won’t necessarily address the actual needs of your prospects. Play to their emotions—get a reaction from their heart and their brain will automatically follow suit. Consumers put their wallets away instead of taking them out when they think with their brain and not with their heart!

Learn to hone in on your audience

One of the biggest benefits article marketing provides is the ability to try again. Even if your market research led you astray and you missed hitting your prospect’s hot button on the head, you can make multiple attempts through an automated series of articles. Track the links back to your site and you’ll know what’s working and what needs to be improved.

And if you just can’t seem to figure out what’s most important to your prospects, feel free to simply ask them. Directly sampling your target audience through tools such as online polls and e-mail questionnaires will provide you with some excellent insight. Provide them with incentives such as discounts on your products to encourage them to provide helpful feedback. This not only increases the quantity of responses it also encourages more direct sales!

Understanding hot buttons not only helps you bring in first-time buyers it also encourages brand loyalty. Among the platforms for building solid business relationships is the understanding of what makes your clients sad or happy, what they value and what motivates them. Automate your article distribution to build an ongoing relationship. Build up value over time and continuously provide them with points that they can use to assuage their hot buttons.

Human behavior is a deeply rooted, almost unchangeable element. Never try to change your prospects’ behaviors. Instead, put yourself in their shoes and adapt your marketing messages accordingly.

To your success,

Andrew Rossillo

Offer a Quality Website at Christmas

Monday, December 21st, 2009

When it comes to shopping online, consumers want quality. This is true throughout the year. It’s especially true during the holiday season, when people are buying more for others than themselves. Growing an online business demands a commitment to always offering this quality to your customers.

However, consumers are not looking for quality products only. They’re also looking for a quality shopping experience. Your website is your platform for making their shopping experience a smooth and enjoyable one. With that in mind, here’s a stocking full of suggestions for offering a quality website at Christmas:

Make Your Website an Easy Read

When visitors arrive at your site, what do they encounter? Is your site ultra-busy, with flashing lights, graphics, and video and more bombarding visitors’ senses? Does your site consist of large unbroken blocks of text? Is there very little white space, with tons of information packed onto each page so they resemble overloaded Christmas trees?

Remember, consumers are under more stress at Christmas time. All day long, they are subject to media blitzes promoting the latest holiday shopping offerings. Don’t contribute to their overwhelmed feeling by presenting an over-hyped chaotic website to them. Have a clean and streamlined looking site.

Have short blocks of text, with information clearly and succinctly presented. Have elegant graphics and video that present useful information. Make your website a welcome oasis of information where consumers can comfortably garner this information to make buying decisions. An easy-to-read website encourages them to stay awhile and have a serene shopping experience.

Make Your Site User-Friendly

An easy to read website must go hand in hand with a user-friendly website. User-friendly means having a site with clear navigation bars. It also means having a clear purpose for each page. Of course, a user-friendly site means having a search function as well. A search function allows your visitors to find precisely what they need, fast.

Make Your Site Seasonal

You can have a website with an attractive holiday season them. Many people enjoy celebrating Christmas and want you festive as well. Make your website appropriately festive without being tacky.

Colors of the season, combined with just the right amount of seasonal pictures and graphics work well. Audio consisting of Christmas music is fine too, as are video presentations celebrating what’s best about the season. Just don’t let too much of this take away from the focus of your site, which is to encourage product sales.

Have Quality Content on Your Website

When doing website content writing, think as you do when engaging in article writing for article marketing initiatives. You already know how to write articles that contain useful information. Apply this kind of knowledge to your efforts as a content producer for your own site. Visitors to your portal want this same useful information, albeit often in smaller doses.

Content considered bland and uninformative does nothing to enhance conversions on a website. Your potential customers become bored and even annoyed with trite, trivial content. They are certain to click away to sites that are more useful. Therefore, give them the same helpful information you provide as an article marketer.

Include a Sitemap

A quality website also means having elements in it that make your site easy to find. Web searchers want to know where you are. They rely on you to help the search engines find you. You can help the search engines find you and list you higher via a site map. A sitemap notifies major search engines every time there’s a change or something new added to your site.

Make Your Customers Comfortable With You

People like to know whom they’re doing business with when they shop online. This is because the Worldwide Web can often seem so impersonal. If you haven’t already done so, write a friendly “About Us” page for your site this holiday season.

Let those clicking around doing online holiday shopping know you and your business better. This builds trust. Trust results in sales and greater commissions from the affiliate programs you’re promoting.

Make Checking Out a Breeze

Upon offering your website visitors quality products and services at Christmas, offer them an easy checkout system. Don’t blow a sale by making the checkout experience a complicated, tedious, difficult affair. Have a smooth, seamless, secure checkout process. Test the entire experience yourself before offering it to holiday shopping enthusiasts.

Consider the above ideas for presenting a quality website at Christmas to your customers. Enhance your website with quality content writing. Promote your website with article writing and distribute your articles through a quality content distribution service. Then watch those Christmas sales soar.

Five Steps to Becoming a Top-Notch Article Marketer

Friday, November 20th, 2009

You’re ready to market your business online. Through research, you now understand that article marketing is an excellent method for doing so. However, you’re not sure where to start so you become an article marketer extraordinaire.

The first thing to do is gain a thorough understanding of your role in the article marketing process. Next, gain a through understanding of what constitutes a quality content distribution service. Working together, you both ensure that your article campaigns produce results.

With the above in mind, here are five steps to becoming a top-notch article marketer:

1. Know your products inside out

You can’t write informative articles on topics related to your products without a deep understanding of the products. These may be affiliate or other products you promote. Gain knowledge of these products through using them if you can.

At the very least, perform the research necessary to learn about them. You can even talk to others who use the products you’re promoting. Their insight into what they like and dislike about them can help you write about them intelligently.

2. Know your target market inside out

Once you know your products, strive to know the audience who uses them. You can tailor your article topics to what information your niche audience wants concerning the products. Let their interests guide your writing, not your own.

For example, you may be part of an affiliate program that sells fine organic coffees. Your web and other research reveal that readers are looking for good articles on the best coffee growing regions. Their desire is to purchase coffee from these regions. Therefore, focus a set of articles on this topic. You are giving your readers what they want and building your reputation with them as well.

3. Devote the necessary time to research, writing, and rewriting

Creating quality articles for your niche market means a time investment. Article writing isn’t always an easy task. However, you don’t want to offer a sub-standard work to your readers. They expect you to provide them detailed, relevant, timely content.

Give that to them by understanding the topic thoroughly. They’re approaching your articles with the attitude that they’re going to gain new knowledge. Next, logically present your expertise and findings. Write clearly, in a conversational tone. Strive to educate, not to flaunt your way with words. Rewrite as necessary, with simple expression of ideas your goal.

4. Stay Abreast of New Developments

You can only write up-to-date articles if you stay current on what’s going on in your field. Success as an article marketer involves keeping your target audience interested in your writings. People look for the latest news concerning products, including upgrades available and such. You can’t write a great product comparison article if you don’t know what the latest products are offering.

In addition, readers look for the latest news on topics related to your products. Take our coffee example; a new organic farm operation may be on the scene. They may offer a coffee bean variety that produces a new unique flavor.

Your niche wants to know this kind of information. Learn about them and get this information to them. You, staying on top of things, builds your credibility as a writer. Credibility encourages linking back from your articles to your website.

5. Know the Attributes of, and Choose a Quality Content Distribution Service

Performing steps one through four ensures you have quality articles to present to your audience. One final and major step remains; you need a quality content distribution service working for you. A premier service gets those well-written articles, loaded with useful information, to your niche efficiently.

A service of this type offers live article review from professional editors. They also offer personalized coaching from said professionals. Some article services offer no editing, or only computer program editing.

In addition, the best service offers article marketing automation. They have the technology in place so your article campaigns run on auto-pilot. You simply submit your articles and schedule when you want them to distribute. Your articles go out in the coming months without you having to do anything more.

Another attribute of a quality content distribution service is a comprehensive distribution list. A good service has associations with thousands of top publishers. This gives you choice, something that every article marketer needs. You can target your articles to specific categories and sub-categories that suit your topics.

Follow these five steps so that you excel as an article marketer. Focus on writing informative articles that offer something new to your readers. Follow that up by choosing a quality content distribution service that sends your articles across cyberspace. Then watch your backlinks grow and subsequently your online sales.

What It Takes To Be An Effective Article Marketer

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Legend has it that someone walked up to renowned pianist Arthur Rubinstein on the street in New York, asking how to get to Carnegie Hall. The report goes that Rubinstein replied, “Practice, practice, practice!” It’s the same with anything in life; the more you do something, typically the better you get at it. The same holds true for you efforts to become a top-notch article marketer.

When practicing article marketing to become proficient at it, it all begins with content creation. The first step in any article campaign is the articles themselves. Good articles start with good ideas.

Think about the products you promote online. They may be your own, or ones from an affiliate program. Your target market wants useful information concerning the products themselves, or topics related to them. Your job is to come up with ideas for articles that fulfill their needs in these areas.

Once you have an idea for a particular article, you must perform the necessary research. Your audience doesn’t want fluff writing. This is writing puffed up with words but not quality information. The Internet abounds with this kind of writing.

You most certainly have happened upon this kind of content many times yourself. Content of this sort may offer a few morsels of basic information. Its stuff you knew anyway. As you read, you get the nagging feeling you are learning nothing new. You realize your wasting your time.

Lack of research contributes to superficial content of this type. However, if you study a topic before writing about it, you come up with useful advice, tips and data for your readers. This can be through your experiences, book research or Internet research. It can also be info garnered through talking to other experts.

Now you take this information and outline your article. An outline based on obtained information helps you organize your article in a logical manner. The outline also ensures you focus on the topic at hand. It prevents you from straying off topic and confusing your readers.

After outlining, you get to the writing. To be an effective article marketer you must understand the nuances of web writing. This involves writing shorter sentences and paragraphs. You can’t wax poetic as you would with in a novel with long-winded, meandering sentences.

You don’t want long blocks of text that look like a complicated legal treatise. You do want concise, precise wording that flows with clarity from paragraph to paragraph. Again, your outline will help you progress with a logical argument down the page.

As an article marketer, you want your reader thinking, “Wow, now I understand this topic better.” Your articles must reveal new information that pertains to their current life circumstances. A reader wants to know information that helps then right now.

For example, an article on golf equipment to improve ones game would concentrate on the newest models on the market. You would probably mention the latest technology in shaft and club head construction. The latest in graphite shafts and such would interest those who gravitate to articles of this kind. Information on club design from the 1930s would not help a golfer’s game in the new millennium.

Your readers want relevant current information. This kind of content keeps them coming back for more. Consistently write original content like this and you build trust with your niche market. When they trust you, they tend to link from your articles to your website. It increases the chances that they convert to customers as well.

Now, with that armful of articles ready to go, what do you do next. To be an effective article marketer you look for a quality content distribution service. The best one available is one that offers resources to those learning and practicing the article marketers’ craft.

A good service offers article marketing automation for their subscribers. Here you write a batch of articles, submit them, and schedule their distribution. You set up, in advance, when you want your articles to go out. You don’t have to devote time to this function each week.

A quality content distribution service also offers personalized coaching. This is from expert editors well-versed in what constitutes excellent articles. These editors also thoroughly understand what publishers require. They give pertinent advice to writers so they can hone their skills and meet these requirements.

A good article distribution service also provides up-to-date reports, articles and eBooks dealing with article marketing. These resources deal with article marketing best practices. They also educate writers on how to write better quality articles faster.

Put in the time necessary to come up with good article ideas. Do the research, outlining and writing that produces quality work. Remember, as an article marketer, practice makes perfect. Quality writing distributed through a quality content distribution service may not get you to Carnegie Hall. However, it helps get you the online income you desire.

Be a Quality Article Marketer through Choosing a Quality Content Distribution Service

Monday, November 9th, 2009

You’ve finished writing a batch of articles focused on topics related to your affiliate products. You believe they are insightful and something your target market is going to enjoy reading. Now, you have to get those articles to your audience.

That means it’s time to get into article marketer mode. First stop, a quality content distribution service. However, you can’t reach that destination until you do your research. The best article distribution service has certain characteristics. Your job is to find that type of service.

Five Things an Article Marketer Needs to Look for in a Quality Content Distribution Service

Not all article services are alike. Some offer the bare minimum of features, some offer a few more. You want a service that offers all the best features in major categories. Here are five categories where you especially want premium service:

Unlimited Article Distribution

You want to be able to submit as many articles as you desire in a subscription period. You also want to pay one fee for this privilege with no hidden charges. Pay-per-article distribution runs up article marketing budgets quickly. Choosing services that limit the number of articles you can submit isn’t beneficial either.

Extensive Distribution List

A good article service deals with thousands of publishers. These publishers are from across the whole spectrum of the publishing world. They include those specialty newsletters, websites, blogs, and ezines from unique niches. The broader distribution you gain to these highly focused publications the more relevant backlinks you obtain.

Live Article Review

A quality content distribution service has real people check your articles over. They don’t solely rely on a software program to review your articles. This means a more detailed look at your work.

Live article review ensures articles reach publishers free of grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting errors. Human editors also watch that articles are not blatant promotional pieces, which publishers dislike.

Article Marketing Automation

This is critical to successful article marketing. Once you finish writing articles, you attend to a host of other responsibilities on your plate. There’s always something to do in affiliate marketing.

Article marketing automation allows you the time to do these other things. First, you submit articles anytime, from anywhere. You set distribution dates for a month, six months, a full year in advance, or some permutation thereof.

You now have a constant stream of articles going out to your target market. This is while you’re spending time on other tasks. This auto-pilot distribution makes you an efficient article marketer.

Ongoing Distribution

This is another key factor in gaining significant ROI from article marketing. The publishing field is in a constant state of flux. New entities enter the field every month. It’s a job in itself to watch who is coming and who is going.

A quality content distribution service does this watching for you. They send out your previously distributed articles to the new entrants to the publishing arena. This ensures your previously written material is always working to gain you backlinks.

The above are some of the key attributes of a quality content distribution service. However, your journey to becoming a successful article marketer doesn’t end with choosing a service. You still have responsibilities to ensure you build your online business faster with articles.

Five Ways to Become a Better Article Marketer

Commit to Quality Research and Writing

Give your articles the best chance at pleasing your readership through doing proper research. Work to ensure you clearly and logically present your facts, and other findings. Give readers interesting information in an easy-to-read style.

Utilize Article Service Resources

A quality content distribution service provides free resources to help writers. Take advantage of the reports and articles on article writing and marketing that they offer. Use these resources to help you write better and faster.

Strive to Provide Unique Information

You gain an audience for your articles when you present relevant, timely information. Don’t rehash old basic generic information in your articles. The web is full of content of this type. Give your readers new information that they can readily put to use.

Stay Abreast of New Developments in Your Field

Keep current on affiliate product upgrades and changes. Read up-to-date reports on topics related to the products you market. Doing this ensures you always do provide unique information to your readers.

Stay Abreast of New Features with Your Article Service

Stay attuned to your distribution service and all they offer. Take advantage of personal coaching and advice from live editors they provide. Access the new reports, articles and such they continually provide members.

Be a quality article marketer through choosing a quality content distribution service. Then further your article marketing skills through them. Insight gained into how a premium service helps you become a top-notch article marketer is important to affiliate marketing success.

All Prior Article Marketer Authors Are Welcome at Content Crooner

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

Saw this Tweet this past week on Twitter:

JeffWend @ContentCrooner Is Content Crooner ripping people off? It looks that way if they don’t honor the old Article Marketer lifetime accounts.

I have no idea where you’re getting your information, Jeff, but wherever it is, they are presenting inaccurate facts. They are speaking out of school and don’t know what they’re talking about.

Here are the facts around your statement:

1-During the split of Article Marketer, half of the authors were randomly assigned to Content Crooner and the other half to another company. But parties are compelled by a contractual agreement to honor, in full, all Article Marketer accounts assigned to them that were in good standing at the time of the split. Period, no questions asked. This dispels the notion that anyone is being taken advantage of in any way. It simply isn’t true.

2-Article Marketer authors that are assigned to Content Crooner are guaranteed the same programs for renewing their contracts with us as they enjoyed at Article Marketer. Simply put, whatever program you were paying for at Article Marketer remains the same at Content Crooner as long as you maintain your account with us in good standing. Should you choose to let it expire or cancel it, our commitment to you under the Article Marketer agreement is fulfilled.

3-If you opt for upgraded services (i.e. pen names), these services will be billed in addition to, not in lieu of, your program carried forth from Article Marketer. As long as you maintain your account in good standing, this status will carry on through perpetuity.

It is my understanding that the other company offers upgrades conditional upon cancellation of your Article Marketer account and opening a new one solely under their companies influence. To alleviate the fear of being trapped in a potentially bad decision, we have addressed this problem as follows:

If that is in fact the case and you change over to one of their packages and then decide you have made a mistake, Content Crooner will reinstate your Article Marketer account and welcome you with open arms to our community.

But this is not without restrictions. To place an end in sight, this policy will be available for a period of 30 days from the time you cancel your Article Marketer account to pick up the other company’s program. This total offer will no longer be available after 31 December, 2009.

That’s more than a reasonable amount of time to make a decision on this matter.

That will give you a fair trial period with them to determine if they can deliver on what they promise or not. This is not something we have to do but rather something we choose to do for the benefit of our authors. The split was not of your making and we want to ensure that you come out of it better than before regardless of where you choose to go.

If you are an Article Marketer author and still unsure of where you want to land permanently, go check out this page especially for you: Article Marketer Authors

This blog will not address Customer Service issues and that is what this falls under. If you have additional questions, please direct them to the Customer Service Desk and they will be glad to answer your questions.

Content Crooner Improves the Way to Distribute Your Articles

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Ok, crew, the distribution of all backlogged articles is caught up and we’re hungry for more! We’re waiting on you. Pour it on us, we can take it.

Almost everyone who was a subscriber to the service at the old Article Marketer will appreciate this improvement to the article submissions system. Virtually no one has been spared an article rejected at one time or another for html characters that threw garbled random characters into finished articles and kicked-off an error message.

Content Crooner resolved to fix this problem.

Content Crooner began collecting data in May 2009 in a case study of article errors noted in the old submission system platform. The study was completed recently and here is what we found:

* There were approximately 60,000 articles submitted during the study period.

* Roughly 32,000 of those articles were indicated as having problems in them leaving the automated computer review software.

* Of those, only 48 errors were non-html character related and all 48 were confined to 11 articles.

Ok, that’s just numbers, right? What does it mean to you as an article marketer?

It means plenty!

The Content Crooner tech team studied these stats and each inherent cause for the error. They dug deep into the submission software code, isolated and repaired these little aggravating devils. Well, most of them anyway. We think we’ve done pretty good so far and are still looking for ways to make it better.

By the time Article Marketer closed its doors, it was already catching about 99.167% of these errors and systematically repairing them without generating an error report. That’s pretty darn good in and of its self.

The Content Crooner tech team has improved on that even further in the last several weeks and now repairs 99.987% of the html errors it finds and passes the article on to the human review team. It will be hard to improve on that much, but rest assured it’s not out of consideration.

You won’t find these numbers among our competitors. We are setting the pace for others to follow.

So, how does improving the submissions system 82 hundredths of one percent make it that much better? We don’t actually know that. It’s splitting hairs.

But what we do know is that constant improvements on the Content Crooner service platform has allowed us to make 1.8 million distributions of subscriber’s articles over the last few weeks. We also know we are not nearly finished yet. Steady improvement of existing systems is a mantra here and is pursued with vigor.

It’s a commitment to Content Crooner authors taken very seriously.

Have you joined our community of article marketers yet? If not, you may want to re-think that. I’m almost sure I saw your competitor’s name on our subscriber list. ;)

Until next time,

Mike
